Barker’s Island is buzzing with action as the City of Superior prepares for the Lake Superior Ice Festival, kicking off on Friday.

This year is a return to normal after last year’s lack of snow. “we are so excited!” Says Volunteer Events and Program Coordinator Jodi Saylor, “Our snow slide is coming back we have snow-ga, yoga in the snow. We’re gonna have ice bowling as a new activity and an ultra cool mascot dance off. So it’s gonna be an exciting weekend.”

The Lake Superior Ice Festival runs from Friday to Sunday. For a full list of events you can check out their calendar here.

Another big activity that’s coming back to the festival is the kubb tournament. This game comes from an old Viking tradition in which you throw blocks at the opponent’s, and also try to knock down the king.

They have a free to attend learn to kubb event Saturday from 9:00am-5:00pm, no need to register just swing by and play.
