Wisconsin Farmers Union day camps open throughout the week

Wisconsin Farmers Union day camps are returning to communities across Wisconsin this summer. These free events are open to all youth and invite children to participate in activities at local rural farms all over Wisconsin. The events inspire and work to give the kids hands-on experience but also connect with other kids and those in the Wisconsin Farmers Union.

Organized by local and county Farmers Union chapters, these camps bring the energy and purpose of the Wisconsin Farmers Union (WFU) youth program directly into local communities. Campers will participate in hands-on activities focused on agriculture, cooperatives, leadership development, and the essential role of family farms in sustaining strong rural communities.

The Youth program members and partners with the Union offer their time and help take care of the kids throughout the camps as lunch is provided for the camps, which go from 9 am to 2 pm. For youth enrolled in the WFU Youth Program, attending a day camp fulfills a program requirement.

For years, members of the Wisconsin Farmers Union have supported and taken kids to the camp. With some joining their overnight camp events. Elizabeth Yost, the director of education in the Wisconsin Farmers Union, spoke on what it is like to be a part of the camps.

“Every day of the week we’re somewhere different, so it’s really fun to just see the diverse landscape of small family farmers that Wisconsin holds,” Elizabeth said. “I think it’s really inspiring, especially for our camp staff, to just see all of the types of farms that Wisconsin has to offer.

Camps are open to the public, with registration encouraged at www.wisconsinfarmersunion.com/events. For more information, contact Elizabeth Yost, Camp Manager, or Camp@WisconsinFarmersUnion.com or (715) 382-0921. Below is the list of the camps and locations throughout the week of June 23rd.
