The Liberty Call Brass Band brings tunes to the Twin Ports

The Liberty Call Brass Band performs throughout the Twin Ports, uniting and energizing the Navy crew with the local community.

Traveling up from the Great Lakes, Illinois, the Liberty Call Brass Band has joined in the festivities of the week by performing all over the Twin Ports.

On July 2nd, they were set to perform on the Power Up Plaza, but with weather conditions, the band moved into the Tech Village next to Pizza Luce. The Band played a variety of medleys in genres from New Orleans to Jukebox.

The band will also be performing at the Night at the Races that same day. Then on July 3rd, they will be at the depot, ending with a performance during the 4th of July parade. Their schedule can be found on their Facebook (@Navy Band Great Lakes on Facebook and Instagram). The crew also said that any pictures from the event can be posted with the hashtag #navyweek

Members of the band celebrate Navy Nation 250. As a member of the band, Musician Third Class, Aaron Linde, spoke on the impact and importance he has seen at these events so far.

“It’s really great just to be walking around in uniform and just having people come up to you and saying, “Oh my gosh, my dad was in the Navy, my uncle, my brother,” Aaron said. “Just family members coming to really share their experiences about family members in the military or they themselves. Even if it’s not even the Navy, if it’s the other branches, we’re just happy to be here in uniform representing all the great things that they do.”
