Sparking connections with Northland LGBTQ Community Conversations
Turning the volume up on community voices and celebrating meaningful conversations here in the Northland, this morning a special guest joined us, Oby Ballinger, founder of a new organization called PRISM.
PRISM is all about connection, visibility, and inclusion for LGBTQ people across Minnesota.
“Everywhere that the light shines, there’s a rainbow spectrum,” Oby said. “But you need that little triangular object, a prism, to make it visible.”
This is exactly what PRISM is doing, helping LGBTQ people feel seen and supported. At a recent Duluth event, nearly 50 people showed up, well over what organizers expected.
“People are hungry and yearning for connection, for purpose, and for the sense that we’re not alone,” Oby shared.
More events are on the way, including a community conversation in Two Harbors on June 23rd. With Pride Month just ahead, PRISM will also be part of celebrations in Duluth, Pine City, Grand Marais, and Grand Rapids; demonstrating that inclusion belongs in every corner of the state.
