At the Minnesota State Capitol, a state house committee held a public hearing over a bill to legalize marijuana in Minnesota.

Democratic house majority leader, Ryan Winkler, is the sponsor of the legislation. The bill went through the Environment and Natural Resources Finance and Policy Committee Monday and could potentially have a full chamber vote in May.

It would allow adults 21 and older to purchase and possess up to 1.5 oz of marijuana and cultivate up to eight plants.

The legislation is expected to get pushback from the Republican controlled legislature. Critics worry about the ability to detect drivers under the influence.
