Lights, Camera, Duluth!
The Minnesota Film Festival is returning this spring, featuring a mix of local and international filmmakers. Festival Director Vera Bianchini joined Good Morning Northland to share what to expect from this exciting event!
The festival kicks off with Mississippi Speed Record, a thrilling film about a race to break the world record for canoeing the Mississippi River. Bianchini says, “The paddlers will be there, adding to the excitement!”
Another highlight is Boundary Waters, filmed in Ely, MN. Bianchini shares, “It’s a beautiful film, and many of the cast and crew will be there to make the screening special.”
The festival blends local talent with filmmakers from across the country and the world. “Our goal is to showcase regional filmmakers while inviting global voices,” says Bianchini.
The festival also features a pitch competition where 10 filmmakers will present their projects. “Everyone will walk away with money, and the top prize is $3,000,” Bianchini explains. Plus, industry professionals will lead panels to help filmmakers grow and connect.
Bianchini, explains how the Northland is up and coming for the film industry, “You can shoot on the lake. You can shoot on the range. You have so many places. And we have a crew and a community here that’s willing to work on projects, and it’s magnificent.”
The Minnesota Film Festival is set to be a must-see event this spring. Individual tickets are available online or at the box office!
