Life Coach: How to Defeat Negative Thoughts

It's something everyone deals with, negative thoughts you just can't get rid of.  Life Coach Pam Solberg-Tapper shared four different questions you can ask yourself to turn those negative thoughts around.


A speaker and author named Katie Byron created the methodology, according to Solberg-Tapper.

"It's about, we all have negative thoughts and they derail us and they make us feel bad," Solberg-Tapper said.  "Most of the time they're not necessarily true, so she has these four questions that we can work through to turn it around and really defeat those negative thoughts."

The four questions are:

  1. Is it true?
  2. Can we absolutely know it's true?
  3. What do you feel when ou believe this negative thought?
  4. Who would you be without this thought?

"If the negative thought was I'm not good enough, so you turn it around to I am good enough to accomplish my dreams when I focus," Solberg-Tapper said.  

You also need to have evidence to prove it.  By walking yourself through these four questions, you can get rid of these negative thoughts.
