Duluth Area Horse Trail Alliance Putting on Movie Night

Created: February 12, 2020 10:04 AM

The Duluth Area Horse Trail Alliance is hosting a classic horse movie night at Zeitgeist Teatro Zuccone.  It will feature "The Man from Snowy River" and it starts at 5:30 p.m.

June Breneman, with the Duluth Area Horse Trail Alliance, said this movie is a lot of people's favorite, classic horse movie.

"I did a little research and there's this famous scene where a young rider is following a herd of wild horses and he's going down this steep incline, and everyone's just holding their breath because if you've riden a horse and you're going down something like that," Breneman said.  "All these other mountain men just stopped, but he goes and the guy who stars in that movie actually did the stunt himself."

Besides the movie, there will be a happy hour starting at 5:30 p.m., food, beverages, and a silent auction.  It all supports the alliance.

"The Duluth Area Horse Trail Alliance is an organization to help promote, preserve, and protect trails for horse riding," Breneman said.

They also have more events coming up in the spring, a horse sensory clinic for people who own a horse and a public event called Horses in Your Neighborhood.  That event gives people the opportunity to spend time with horses and learn about them.

A new trail is also being worked on.  It's called the DWP trail that goes around Spirit Mountain.  They're hoping to continue educating the public on how to approach a horse while on the trail.

Breneman said to make sure you call out and make your presence known before walking up to them.

The classic horse movie night is happening on Thursday, February 13 at Zeitgeist Teatro Zuccone beginning at 5:30 p.m.  Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for youth.
