Final Update: All water notices have been lifted for Silver Bay

According to Lake County officials, the Boil Water Notice has been lifted for Silver Bay as the city has returned to normal operations as of Tuesday at 5PM. Notices have been sent to residents in the school and Banks Boulevard neighborhood.

According to Lake County Emergency Alerts, the community experienced two water main breaks on Sunday morning on Edison Blvd, by the bus garage, and the other is on Banks Blvd by the school. The break in front of the bus garage was the first break city staff started repairing due to its impact on other parts of the system.

Crews had a challenge digging through the frost to get to the main and locate the break. The water break by the school impacted the school and classes were canceled for Monday.

Residents were asked to conserve water.

While crews worked on the repairs, Lake County officials say two additional breaks occurred Sunday evening, further dropping the water level. Lake County had said that water was safe to drink, cook, and flush toilets with; however, washing machines, dishwashers, and showering take more consumption and should be limited.
