The Island Lake Boat Parade returns for the second year
For the second year in a row, residents of Island Lake came together to host a unique kind of parade, one where the floats really float. Despite a rain delay, the parade was out on the water Saturday afternoon.
One of the families participating were the Mccolloughs, who decked their pontoon out, taking inspiration from the Flintstones family.
“Well Jerry’s favorite character is Fred Flintstone and so the grandkids helped, and we decorated up the boat,” said Cindy Mccollough.
Cindy says the community effort is what makes the whole event worth it for the family.
“Everybody pitches in and makes it happen,” said Cindy.
Families, like the Mccolloughs, had some fun on the lake while getting the chance to meet new people.
“It’s awesome to have the community get together and to meet your neighbors and even people who are up for vacation just come out and have a good time,” said Cindy.
The parade ended with five floats being named either Most Patriotic, Most Creative, Best Non-Pontoon, Judges Favorite, and Best Dressed Crew. Click here to learn more about the parade and all involved in making it happen.
