Superior Police investigating alleged hazing incident by Superior High School boys lacrosse team

The Superior Police Department reports that they are investigating an alleged hazing incident by members of the boys Superior High School lacrosse team that may have occurred last week.

The department was nofitified by school officials who were told it took place while the team was at an out of town sporting event.

“The Superior Police Department immediately contacted the police agency of jurisdiction,” said Capt. Michelle Pope. “An investigation was launched by that agency, and the Superior Police Department has been assisting them in their efforts.”

The Superior School District provided WDIO with the following statement:

Last week administration was made aware of an alleged hazing incident involving members of the high school boy’s lacrosse team that reportedly occurred during an out-of-town event.

The safety and well-being of our students are our top priorities, and we take any allegations of misconduct extremely seriously. In accordance with district policy, we immediately notified law enforcement and launched our own thorough investigation.

The School District of Superior is committed to fostering a safe and respectful environment for all students. Hazing has no place in our school community, and we will not tolerate any behavior that puts our students at risk.
