Students at Lincoln Park Middle School have fun at first STEMpathy Career Fair

First STEMpathy Career Fair for Lincoln Park Middle School

STEM professionals shared their work with Lincoln Park Middle School on Monday at the STEMpathy Career Fair.

A fun way to find out about STEM careers in our community involved snakes, robots, and fingerprinting at Lincoln Park Middle School.

Their first STEMpathy Career Fair gave 6th and 7th graders a chance to check out over 30 booths in their gym on Monday. The goal is to inspire future innovators.

So what is STEMpathy? “It’s a combination of STEM, which is science, technology, engineering, and math, and empathy, meeting the community members and our community members also meeting our students, finding likenesses and connectedness,” explained Cindy Miller. She’s the Media Content Specialist and a teacher at Lincoln Park.

Students from Denfeld’s robotics team also did a short demonstration.

The plan is to hold the STEMpathy Career fair at Ordean East Middle School next year. Grant funding made this all possible.

Other industries represented include health care, the military, FBI, and manufacturing. The Great Lakes Aquarium and Lake Superior Zoo also brought snakes.
