Volunteers show up for spring cleaning at the Lake Superior Maritime Visitor Center

Spring cleaning at the Lake Superior Maritime Visitor Center

Volunteers helped spruce up the Lake Superior Maritime Visitor Center on Wednesday, ahead of the busier tourist season.

In a couple of weeks, the Soo Locks will reopen, and the shipping season will be in full swing again.

So March is the perfect time for the Lake Superior Maritime Visitor Center to get spruced up for the tourists.

Volunteers spent time polishing and cleaning the different exhibits and areas in the museum on Wednesday.

Scott Bjorklund, a park ranger there, said, “It’s fun for folks to be able to just hang out with the exhibits a little more intimately, being able to clean them, get a closer look at stuff they might not have time to otherwise.”

Winter hours are Friday-Sunday, but will expand once shipping starts.
