Specialized police teams used in the 900 Block of Clough Ave

Early Monday morning, April 28th, a 36-year-old male was taken into custody after Superior Police officers were dispatched to a disturbance reported Sunday evening. The dispatch required the use of the Emergency Response Team and Crisis Response Team (negotiators).

On Sunday, April 27, 2025, at approximately 5:30p.m., Superior Police officers were called to a residence in the 900 block of Clough Avenue. A report came in of an individual causing a disturbance from inside their home, eventually leading outside into the neighborhood.

The calls reported that the man was yelling and broke multiple windows in his house, throwing the glass and other objects onto the street from his second-story window. Arriving officers learned a neighbor had gone into the house to check the welfare of the male and found him to be suicidal and armed with a handgun. The neighbor reported he wrestled the gun away from the male and fled the house.

Attempts to make contact with the resident found him uncooperative. He was reported to continue to yell out his window and refused to come out of the house. The Crisis Response Team from the Superior Police Department arrived and gave him a special phone used for direct communication with team members. The man damaged the phone.

As the incident continued without progress, a search warrant was drafted and executed by Superior’s Emergency Response Team.  After deploying gas munitions, the man was safely taken into custody, with the use of a Taser, at approximately 12:00 am on April 28, 2025, according to the Superior Police Department
