Red Flag Warning issued for several northern Minnesota counties

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning today for several counties in northern Minnesota, in effect from noon until 9 p.m.

The counties affected include Beltrami, Cook, Itasca, Koochiching, Lake, Lake of the Woods, and St. Louis.

The warning is issued due to extreme fire risk, and means that fire can quickly get out of control and spread under the upcoming weather conditions.

Residents in these counties should not burn anything until the Red Flag Warning has been lifted.

This comes as wildfires continue to burn in the Northland, and upcoming conditions threaten to make the fight to contain them even tougher.
