A crash involving a pickup truck and bicyclist in Superior on Friday, June 27 has left one dead.
The crash happened just before 4 p.m. at the intersection of East 2nd St and North 5th Street. According to the Superior Police Department, witnesses and evidence suggest the bicyclist pulled in front of oncoming traffic from the median, where they were hit by the pickup truck. Witnesses also say the cyclist’s sudden movement into traffic gave the driver no time to react and avoid hitting them.
The man who was riding the bike has been identified as 48-year-old Jamie Lee Perry of Superior. He was taken to Essentia Duluth where he eventually died from his injuries.
The driver of the pickup truck cooperated with law enforcement and is not believed to have been impaired.
