Multiple fire crews responded early Friday morning to a structure fire at the former El-Roy Supper Club in Britt, just 10 miles north of Virginia, after a passerby reported seeing flames coming from the roof.
The call to 911 came in at approximately 4:37 a.m. in the 7200 block of Britt Bypass.
The St. Louis County Sheriff’s office says the building had been renovated into a home and was believed to be occupied at the time.
The person who reported the fire told dispatchers they honked their vehicle’s horn to alert the residents.
A man and woman were able to escape the burning structure without injury, officials said.
Multiple fire departments responded and still remain on the scene.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office and the Minnesota State Fire Marshal’s Office.
