A car versus moose accident happened on Tuesday night north of Duluth.

St. Louis County Sheriff’s deputies and medical response personnel responded to a car versus moose accident around 8:30.

The Sheriff’s office says a large cow moose was struck by a car on Highway 53 just north of the 169 split.

The driver of the car was being checked out by first responders for possible injuries. The moose did not survive.
