Man shot while allegedly assaulting ex-girlfriend and other in Hibbing

The Hibbing Police Department reports that at approximately 5:21 a.m. Friday morning, June 27, officers responded to the report of a shooting at an apartment near the 600 block of East 40th St. They stated that a male broke into the apartment and began to physically assault a woman, who they identify as the suspects ex-girlfriend, and another male occupant.
They further state that the male occupant was able to retrieve a revolver who fire one shot at the suspect which hit the suspect and caused him to flee.
The suspect was later located and taken into custody by the Itasca County Sheriff’s Department. The suspect will remain in custody following medical treatment.
Authorities state this was an isolated incident and that there is no threat to the public. The incident remains under investigation.
