Lincoln Park Farmers Market holds growing season kickoff event
Yesterday marked the official start of growing season, and the Lincoln Park Farmers Market held a kickoff party to celebrate.
The pre-season market featured over 20 vendors, along with some live music, a free community meal, and a raffle.
It was set to be held in Harrison Park, but had to me moved indoors due to the rain.
However, that didn’t stop people from having a good time.
“We were a little nervous because of the weather, and we had some vendors cancel because of the fires. They’re at home, keeping their eyes on their properties. So it’s been kind of a stressful couple of days leading up to the market. But to see everyone turn out, get to use their produce description, their EBT dollars, really get access to food, is amazing.” said Kayla Pridmore, the program manager of “Seeds of Success.”
The market’s regular season starts June 12 in Harrison Park, and runs through the end of September.
