Duluthian is currently top rookie in Iditarod

Duluthian Emily Ford is currently the top rookie racing in the 2025 Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race.
As of Tuesday afternoon, Ford was in 12th place, the highest spot currently held by a rookie.
Ford is one of a small handful of Black mushers who have run the race and only the second Black woman.
Wearing bib 34, she is about 600 miles along. The Iditarod is 1,128 miles in 2025, longer than usual on an altered course due to lack of snow on the originally planned route.
The race is expected to finish in Nome in the next couple of days.
