Duluth Dylan Fest kicks off May 18

Greg Tiburzi performs the music of Bob Dylan at the singer-songwriter's childhood home in Duluth.
The annual Duluth Dylan Fest returns from May 18 to May 25 with event the festivities kicking off in Hibbing. This year’s events coincide with Bob Dylan’s 84th birthday on May 24.
“Bob Dylan is widely regarded as one of the world’s most influential and groundbreaking artists, redefining what music could be, shattering boundaries from his earliest days in New York’s folk scene to his decades on the global stage,” said Duluth Dylan Fest committee member Ed Newman. “As Duluth’s own, he’s a reminder of what’s possible when creativity knows no bounds. At Duluth Dylan Fest, we come together to celebrate not just a legend, but the shared joy his music brings to our community and the world beyond.”
Dylan was born in Duluth on May 24, 1941. Seven years later, he and his family moved to Hibbing. Two of this year’s events will take place outside Dylan’s childhood homes. On May 18, fans will gather on the lawn of his childhood home in Hibbing before touring Hibbing High School, where Dylan, then known as Robert Zimmerman, was part of the Class of ’59.
Then, on May 24, a Front Porch Birthday Party will be held at Dylan’s childhood home in Duluth.
“We always have nice crowds outside the Dylan houses,” said Zane Bail, Duluth Dylan Fest Committee Member.
Additional events, including concerts, contests, parties, and more, will be held throughout that week.
