Duluth Airport Authority runs triennial full scale emergency drill
To keep up with safety requirements, the Duluth Airport Authority conducted their full-scale emergency exercise drill on Thursday June 5th.
The Federal Aviation Administration mandates the exercise be done every 3 years to maintain operational safety and preparedness at commercial service airports.
“It gives us a chance to exercise this type of response with all of our emergency response partners throughout the area,” said Tom Werner the Executive Director of the Duluth Airport Authority. “They do a tremendous job. It allows us to make sure we exercise our communication and ultimately practice saving lives.”
The exercise used emergency vehicles and simulated injuries for personnel to get the hands on practice critical to handling emergency situations.
Operations at the airport were not interrupted by the exercise.
