Current Fire Danger for Minnesota & Wisconsin

Fire Danger remains very high to extreme in Minnesota on Wednesday. Springtime is a dangerous time for wildfires as the plant life begins to green up. Conditions can change very quickly. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources all of Lake and Cook counties, northern St. Louis, Koochiching and western Minnesota are under Extreme fire danger. This means the fire situation is explosive and could result in extensive property damage.
Southern St. Louis, Carlton, much of Itasca, Crow Wing and Pine Counties are in the Very High category, meaning fires could easily start and spread.
The Minnesota DNR says much of the state is under a no open burning order.

Wisconsin is also dealing with dry conditions. Northwest Wisconsin, including Douglas, Bayfield, Burnett, Washburn, Sawyer, Polk and Barron Counties are showing Very High fire danger as of Wednesday afternoon. Ashland and Iron Counties, through central Wisconsin are under high risks.
