Curling supplies could be impacted by tariffs
Most of the curling supplies that line the shelves at Lakeside Curling at the Duluth Curling Club come from Canada. And they are manufactured in China. The countries have a free trade agreement in place.
That’s why owner Tony Lasky is not thrilled about the proposed tariffs on both countries, although the ones from Canada are on pause now.
“I’m just telling my customers that if they were on the fence about ordering curling equipment that they should probably do it this year rather than next year because the prices potentially could be up 25% or more, because some of the materials may be more expensive,” he shared. “I hope things change.”
He’s paid tariffs before, but said the 25% is a significant increase. “Either you eat the cost, or you pass on the cost to the customer,” he said.
