Bayfield mayor resigns

Mayor Ted Dougherty in Bayfield, Wisconsin, has resigned from his post. A city governance update was provided on the City of Bayfield’s website that explained during a special meeting on April 16, Bayfield City Council decided to leave the Mayor’s position unfilled for the time being.

The council is weighing three options; naming a new mayor, holding a special election, or not filling the position for the remainder of the term (1 year).

The council will revisit the issue during their regular June council meeting. In the interim, Council President Lyn Cornelius will serve as Acting Mayor.
