Ashland Fire damages home, displaces two

On the afternoon of June 7, fire crews in Ashland responded to a report of a house fire.
Arriving at the 1100 block of 3rd Street West, crews discovered the two-story home ablaze. The Ashland Fire Department says crews had the flames under control after 11 minutes.
Two people were in the home at the time of the fire and were able to escape. Though one pet was saved, the AFD reports that others died in the fire. Due to the damage, the residents will not be able to live in the house for months. The Salvation Army has provided lodging for the victims.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
The Ashland Fire Department were assisted by the Ashland Police Department, Mason Fire Department, Washburn Fire Department, as well the Red Cross and Salvation Army.
