An electric take on a vintage classic sparking conversation about winter driving

The new 2025 ID. Buzz Electric Bus is a 7-seat electric vehicle with a vintage vibe, and they can now be seen at the Volkswagen of Duluth dealership.

Lots of the Northland nervous about switching to electric with harsh winters. We spoke with Heather Tomczak, an electric car owner, who told us her current electric vehicle does well for her in the winter.

“My car has a lot of weight to it, so I don’t lose control, and it drives really well,” said Tomczak. “There’s a little bit of mileage loss in the winter but I drive it back and forth from work. It’s a gorgeous car.”

The Micro Bus is an iconic pop culture symbol of the 60s and 70s the new take aims to capture the spirit of the original with upgraded features including an emission-free electric motor.

Though the 2025 ID. Buzz Electric Bus isn’t out yet, the waitlist is open on the Volkswagen Duluth website and Tomczak is waiting for her own 2025 ID. Buzz Electric Bus.

“I can’t wait. It’s unique,” said Tomczak “I’m an art teacher and the Buzz Electric Bus feels like something Bob Ross would have. It’s a throwback to when I was a kid, and you’d see the Microbus on the road. They were so cool back then.”
