10th annual Northwoods Pond Hockey Championship coming up in Grand Rapids
Teams have been helping turn ice into water now for 10 years. And they do it, through hockey games!
The 10th annual Northwoods Pond Hockey Championship is coming up in February in Grand Rapids.
Jon Scally helped get this started after playing in other tournaments in the cities.
It’s grown from four rinks to nine, and now almost forty teams will battle it out on McKinney Lake.
They’ve raised money for local charities and for digging wells in Africa.
Scally was able to visit Kenya in April, and see first hand what a difference they are making with the wells.
“It’s life changing. Instead of spending a whole day getting water, they can have their kids attend school,” he shared.
Hear more from him, tonight on The Five!
