Wildfire Update: Light rain did not help Jenkins Creek and Horse River Fires

National Incident Management Organization (NIMO) Team managing the Jenkins Creek and Horse River Fires say yesterday’s rain was, “likely insufficient to increase fuel moisture enough to significantly moderate fire behavior.”

The Jenkin’s Creek Fire is sitting at 94% contained and the Horse River Fire is sitting at 0% contained. Jenkins Creek is at 16,091 acres and Horse River is at 13 acres.

NIMO reports for the Jenkin’s Creek Fire, “Unmanned Aerial System (UAS/drone) missions to improve mapping of the Jenkins Creek Fire perimeter and to locate residual areas of heat will continue [Tuesday].”

They gave an update on what the plan is for Horse River as well saying, “The plan for [Tuesday’s] operation will be to continue to methodically work their way across the body of the fire, locating any residual heat and working those areas to thoroughly extinguish any remaining heat on the fire.”
