Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa names new Secretary/Treasurer

The Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa has certified their Special General Election results and have named Wayne Dupuis to fill the position of Secretary/Treasurer for the remainder of the unexpired four-year term.

According to their General Election Board, out of 584 ballots casted, Wayne Dupuis recieved 305 votes (52.23%), defeating candidate Jennifer Murray, who had 279 votes (47.77%). The votes were certified by the board on June 18th.

Wayne Dupuis has over 40 years of experience serving the Fond do Lac Band, holding leadership positions across tribal government and programs, including Environmental Program Manager, Housing Director, Human Resources Director, and Indian Child Welfare Worker.

In a press release, Dupuis says he is humbled and honored to serve alongside other members of the Reservation Business Committee. He goes on to say:

“I want to acknowledge and thank all of the candidates who stepped forward to run for this office—your commitment to our community is vital and honorable. With humility, reflection, and the guidance of our teachings, I will do my best to serve the people of the Fond du Lac Band with integrity and care. Miigwech for placing your trust in me.”

Dupuis will take the role afer the conclusion of the electoral process, with an inauguration ceremony expected to be held between June 25th and June 27th, 2025.
