City of Duluth temporarily closes all natural surface trails

The Duluth Traverse is around 45 miles long and connects 100 miles of trail in Duluth (WDIO).
The City of Duluth Parks and Recreation division has announced they are temporarily closing all natural surface trails in the city due to the spring thaw cycle. The trails will remain closed until further notice.
Natural surface trails include the Duluth Traverse, Superior Hiking Trail, and other dirt trail systems within the city’s parks.
“The wet soil conditions make natural surface trails vulnerable to significant damage if walked or ridden on at this time,” said Kelli Latuska, Public Information Officer with the city. “The City anticipates reopening the trails once surface conditions improve.”
Cross-country ski trails will remain open for skiing, so long as snow is one the trails, and paved and gravel surface trails will also remain open.
