American Idol auditions are being held virtually this year.
Minnesota's audition date is this Friday. Wisconsin and Michigan's have already passed, but producer Melissa Elfar said people can still find a time to try out on a different date.
"Because it's so easy, we're actually seeing that there's so many more people coming out to audition," Elfar said. "So many people that have always thought about it but couldn't make the drive or whatever the reason may be, they're auditioning because it's literally so easy."
The show partnered with Zoom, which built a platform to ensure audio quality would be up-to-par.
"The cool thing about it is you get a live face-to-face audition," Elfar said.
The show will air on ABC this spring.
