St. Louis County is set to formally proclaim the Year of Dylan on May 4th to celebrate the Duluth and Hibbing native’s 80th birthday later in the month.

The Duluth Dylan Fest will bookend the year of celebrating Bob Dylan that will start on his 80th Birthday, May 24th 2021, and end on his 81st birthday, May 24th, 2022.

Unlike last year, the music will be able to be celebrated with live performances.

This includes multiple performances at Earth Rider Festival Field in Superior like the Duluth Dylan Fest Party on the 24th and performances by this year’s artists recording the fifth in the series of Duluth Does Dylan albums on the 28th.

For those who still feel uncomfortable with live performances or won’t be in the area, Zane Bail, a committee member with Duluth Dylan Fest and the Year of Dylan, said this year will still be a virtual hybrid festival so people can enjoy many of the celebrations from home.

As this is an entire year of Dylan, Duluth Dylan Fest will also be reaching out to area businesses to get creative ideas of how they would like to participate throughout the year.

Businesses will be able to reach out directly to Duluth Dylan Fest through form that will be made available May 4th.
