Most people visiting Duluth drive into the city from the south. But Adam Barlow got his first look at the city from the north.

"Once I turned the corner heading into town out of the north, I saw the lake and everything, and all the hills started, and I was like ‘this is the San Francisco of Minnesota!’

Barlow should know. He’s now visited 40 states on a year-long tour of America.

He started his journey last September in Rochester, New York. After visiting the South and the West, Barlow arrived in Duluth this week.

"This country is amazing. There’s so much to see. I’ve just crossed over 31,000 miles. I could’ve driven 100,000 miles and I still wouldn’t have seen it all, so just get out there and explore," Barlow said.

Voyageurs National Park in northern Minnesota was the 39th National Park on his journey, which has also taken him to iconic spots such as Mount Rushmore, Yosemite, Yellowstone, and Mount Rainier.

"Parks people are amazing! They’re some of the friendliest people in the country," Barlow said, describing his trip as magical.

After Duluth, Barlow’s next stop is the Twin Cities, where he planned to visit Paisley Park. He still needs to visit a number of Midwestern states, including Wisconsin and Michigan.

The last stop on Barlow’s journey will be the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in Tennessee, but it won’t be his first visit to the state: it’ll actually be the tenth time he’s attended the festival.
