This warm spell has been nice, but we are still in the depths of winter.

March and April are two of our snowiest winter months. And knowing this, a group of community minded folks are being proactive to help others.

Volunteers from the Duluth Chamber's 2020 leadership Duluth class are launching a deep-winter donation drive to support two essential organizations. Life House assists at-risk and homeless youth, and CHUM helps struggling adults and families.

Leadership Duluth member Steve Wick says this is historically a time of low donations to area shelters and worthy non-profits. "We knew that in this part of the winter season after the holidays have come and gone and before the weather starts warming up, alot of organizations have a hard time getting donations for needed items."

Items needed are things like gift cards for grocery stores, toiletry items, baby food, diapers, new men's and women's socks and underwear.

There are multiple drop-off locations including the Duluth chamber of commerce, area YMCAs, and more. For a link to the list of drop off locations, click here.

The donation drive runs from March 2nd, through March 31st.
