Throughout the coming weeks, there will be some unforeseen needs in our communities. Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank is working to put together a list of volunteers to help provide food and non-food items to our neighbors who need help.

Shaye Moris with Second Harvest says they are looking for up to 10 healthy volunteers per shift to pack boxes of food to be delivered to NE Minnesota and NW Wisconsin food shelves.

The shifts will be between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. beginning Friday, March 20, 2020. Advance registration is required. If interested, please contact (218) 336-2303 or info@northernlakesfoodbank.org for more information or to volunteer.

Second Harvest has heightened their facility and personal hygiene standards and are maintaining the proper social distancing during all volunteer opportunities.

A reminder to volunteers during this COVID-19 outbreak:
•    If you are considered high risk by the CDC stay home (elderly or have serious chronic health conditions like heart disease, lung disease, or diabetes)
•    If you are ill stay home, we need to protect our staff, our volunteers and our most vulnerable neighbors
•    Help prevent the spread of virus as recommended by CDC
