Members of the union held an informational picket on Monday afternoon in Duluth, encouraging people who drove by to "Honk For Health care."

In addition to obviously impacting staff, UnitedSteelerworkers Local 9460 President Deanna Hughes says the layoffs will also affect the rest of us.

"It is definitely going to impact the members of the community, and the access that they'll have to quality health care because when you have limited staff, obviously you're going to have limited access as well," said Hughes.

Essentia says the layoffs are necessary so they can still continue to compensate for losses from the COVID-19 pandemic.
