Are you wondering what you should do with your Jack O'Lantern now that Halloween is over? The UMD Land Lab says they will take them.

Students in Assistant Professor Teresa Bertossi’s Environment & Sustainability class will hold a pumpkin compost drive on Friday, November 5 through Sunday, November 7.

According to a release from the University of Minnesota, the goal is to keep pumpkins out of the landfill and they will be used to create compost at the Land Lab. Bertossi says this project will save the Land Lab money.

The pumpkins are being collected in dumpsters on UMD’s campus. There will be a dumpster at the Bagley Nature Center, 631 W St Marie Street, and one in the Maroon Lot B, by the Darland Administration Building.

Organizers of the pumpkin drive ask the community to make sure candles are out of the Jack O’Lanterns and to be sure to use the correct dumpsters.
