Sally Trnka has announced that she will not seek re-election to the Duluth School Board this year.

Trnka's seat is one of two at-large positions on the school board that are up for election in November. She did not state a specific reason for her decision in a news release, saying that she would continue her service to the community in other arenas.

"I am humbled that the community trusted and elected me to this position and I have worked hard each day to serve this District and our community. It has been a challenging term filled with the unforeseen; I am proud of the work that we have been able to accomplish together," Trnka said in a news release.

"I sincerely hope that those who seek to fill the open seats on the School Board represent diverse voices that will lift up all that is good in our community and work in a collaborative way with a critical mind to address the challenges," she said.

Trnka is currently the chair of the HR/Finance Committee and the Treasurer of the Board.

Dana Krivogorsky and incumbent Kelly Durick Eder have filed to run for the two at-large seats, while incumbents Rosie Loeffler-Kemp and Jill Lofald are the only candidates who have filed for the First and Fourth District seats. Filing is open through June 15.
