The coronavirus pandemic has caused many of our favorite get-togethers and festivals to cancel, but the Greek Orthodox Church has found a way to give the community a taste of Greece. Members of the Twelve Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church will offering Greek favorites as take-out for the next two Saturdays.

Guests are invited to stop by the church, located at 632 E. 2nd Street in Duluth, on Saturday, September 26, and Saturday, October 3, noon-5:00 pm, to purchase and carry off delicious Greek food and pastries.

“The pandemic caused us to let go of the Taste of Greece festival this year, but we pivoted to make it possible to offer the community a selection of take-out Greek food: gyros, spanakopita, Greek salad, baklava, and Greek cookies,” co-chairs of the event, George and Kate Patronas said in a release.

You can place an order ahead by calling (218) 722-1652 starting at 9:00 a.m. each Saturday to schedule a pick-up time, or stop by the tent at the back of the church and take it to go.

Money raised will help support the church and its charitable outreach. The church accepts credit cards, checks, and cash. Guests are asked to wear masks and observe social distancing.

"The Greeks who founded our church in 1918 were faithful and resourceful, and we are following in their footsteps," said Becca Patronas Lind, president of the Parish Council.
