The State Patrol is investigating a fatal vehicle crash that occurred on Highway 169 in Itasca County Sunday morning.
Authorities say a Ford Explorer was going eastbound on Highway 169 in Greenway Township around 5:00am when it crossed the center line and struck a Dodge Ram head on.
According to authorities, the driver of the Ford Explorer, 38-year-old Mathew Kirkpatrick, of Keewatin, suffered life-threatening injuries.
The update said the driver of the Dodge Ram, 69-year-old Larry Meyer, of Hibbing, died.
Kirkpatrick is being treated at Essentia Health-St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth.
