St. Luke’s celebrates EMS Appreciation Week

The rain held out just long enough for a St. Luke’s to host a cookout in celebration of the EMS Appreciation Week.

In between saving lives, EMS workers were able to grab a bite of their favorite barbecue foods in between calls.

WDIO spoke with ER Physician and Medical Director of Mayo ambulance, Jonathan Schultz. He says it’s the least they can do and feel the work they do often goes unnoticed, “I think that we’re all used to seeing ambulances driving around. Sometimes with lights and sirens. Sometimes just sitting in parking lots. We tend to think that’s kind of what they do. But they’re a busy service here.”

Today was celebrated by the Mayo Clinic Ambulance, Volunteer Ambulance Services, and the Helicopter Flight crew. The work they do is important and sometimes dangerous. After all these heroes, provide service 365 days a year and 24 hours a day.
