Police responded to the 100 block of the West #4 alley in the Central Hillside neighborhood shortly after noon after receiving multiple reports of residents hearing the sound of shots being fired.

Upon arrival, first responders say they found evidence consistent with the shots-fired reports. Duluth Police say one person was taken to the Essentia Emergency Department with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Police said Thursday that they had determined the victim's injuries were sustained in the same incident. The injury is not life-threatening.

Police believe the incident was not a random act. Their investigation is ongoing.
