The annual Proctor American Legion Post 106 Memorial Day observance and program will be held on Monday, May 31. The event will begin at 9:30 a.m. outside of the Proctor Community Center. The keynote speaker will be Proctor High School graduate, Senior Airman Kristin Swanstrom. Swanstrom was selected as the 148th Fighter Wing's Outstanding Airman of the Year.  

Also speaking will be Kris Brenna Lyons, whose cousin Seaman Sterling (Sting) Bird, a 1942 graduate, who was lost at sea 77 years ago. 

The schedule includes: 

•    Proctor Boy Scout Troop 84 – Pledge of Allegiance
•    Invocation Pastor Steven Elder, Community of Christ Church
•    Josh Larson will sing the National Anthem
•    Mayor Chad Ward will give the welcome
•    Proctor American Legion Honor Guard Salutes the Departed
•    Taps, Carl Provost Jr.
•    Proctor’s Community Band
•    Benediction
•    Master of Ceremony Jake Benson

Music will be provided by Kerry Welsh on bagpipes. The St. Rose Men’s Club will provide their donuts following the program. 

The American Legion Honor Guard will visit the six-area cemeteries to salute the departed. 

Pine Hill in Midway at 11:00 a.m.
Augustana in Midway at 11:30 a.m.
Solway, Maple Grove Road at noon
Twig, Industrial Road, Grand Lake at 1:15 p.m.
Pike Lake, Canosia at 1:30 p.m.
Hermantown,  5345 Morris Thomas Road at 1:45 p.m.
