Proctor American Legion honors fallen on Memorial Day

Proctor also honored fallen service members on this Memorial Day. The American Legion Post 106 Honor Guard held multiple ceremonies to honor and remember the dead.

The Legion says the town still wanted to mark this day, so they found a way to do so while practicing social distancing. and it didn't take away from what brought their community together.

"There's still people that want to recognize and remember what memorial day is for," said Commander James Kmecik, of American Legion Post 106. "A lot of people memorialize different things, but we with the American Legion focus on our veterans, and most importantly our veterans who died during service in combat and war."

While they limited numbers to adhere to health guidelines, the Legion still honored their heroes with ceremonies at Proctor City Hall and at six local cemeteries.
