Operation Slow Motion at Park Point

Created: June 11, 2021 10:45 PM

Park Point residents and the Duluth Police Department are reminding visitors to slow down on that stretch of road.

The residents and police are asking this after an accident on Park Point last fall almost killed point residents.

They have added radar signs to monitor motorists speeds, and residents formed a neighborhood watch to track speed violators. They say this is to ensure the safety of visitors and residents on the very narrow stretch of road.

"Traffic safety on the point is just as important as water safety on the point,” said Pat Sterner, Park Point resident and Operation Slow Down Committee Chair. “And to also realize that the huge volume of traffic really does impact the safety of everyone down there."

Police ask drivers to monitor their speeds as the point is very popular this time of year.
