There are many ways to give back to our communities and invest in the future. And that's happening at Cloquet's library.

Renovations and construction recently completed there thanks in part to a donation from Northwoods Credit Union. They say the library is an important outlet to use and invest in.

"The library is a very important part of the community," said Douglas Wolf, President and CEO of Northwoods Credit Union. "The meeting space here is very desperatley needed in the community, and the library serves the whole county, not just Cloquet. And i think people have the wrong idea that libraries are dying off and a thing of the past. I think they're evolving."

On Thursday, Northwoods Credit Union presented the first installment of an $80,000 donation pledge. They want to make sure that folks in Cloquet and beyond have access to all libraries have to offer.

"Many in our community who are less fortunate, whether they don't have internet access or have some inability to get real books to read, those are the people the library helps the most and that's why we want to help," said Wolf.

Along with renovating the parts of the building with books, new meeting rooms have been added. The research desk is larger too, and the children's space was expanded.
