New studio says ballet is for everyone

She wants to spread the word that ballet is for every body.

Paige Larson is the owner and instructor at "Raise the Barre," a new ballet studio that recently opened in the former Danish Bakery space in West Duluth. The Chamber of Commerce was on hand for a ribbon cutting Tuesday.

Larson previously owned a dance studio in Wisconsin for 16 years, and has been teaching in the area for the last two decades.

"I just see that there is a need for Classical Ballet in this town. Classical Ballet should be able to be appreciated by everyone, so our motto is ‘ballet is for every body.’" Larson said.

The business is open for ages 2 1/2 to adults. Larson is planning beginner sessions for adults starting in November.

"I just want this to be a safe space for everyone from all walks of life, all races, genders, to feel comfortable to come in and take ballet because sometimes Classical Ballet can seem a little bit overwhelming and intimidating, and I don’t want anyone to feel that. I want everyone to come in and just enjoy themselves," she said.
