A nationwide, week-long effort to celebrate the Salvation Army for all they do, and raise money for the organization begins on Monday.

Although they are not hosting in-person events this year, a virtual trivia contest will take place Monday through Friday. The Salvation Army will be putting trivia questions about the organization on their Facebook and Instagram pages at 9:09 AM.

The first person to correctly answer will win a prize package.

The Salvation Army has existed for over 140 years.

It aims to help people with food, shelter, and care, something Development Director Dan Williamson says has been especially needed this past year.

"The need is always there. It just so happens that right now, the need is at its greatest with what's going on in the world, and the COVID-19 pandemic," said Williamson.

There are a number of ways people can help out, including donating canned goods, a financial gift, or their time through volunteering.

Those who are interested in getting involved can visit the Salvation Army's website or call the Salvation Army at 218-722-7934.
